Wayne Wong teaching moguls technique and the T-bar from the top, in 1979 (photo caption says "note lack of snow"). 'Just because it was documented, doesn’t mean we have it…' heads this week's article which sets off to dispel some of the main misconceptions, and shed light on the process, of how the local Museum's collection broadens ... Toni Sailer and Nancy Greene Raine on the World Cup Downhill course in 1979. The 60 year legacy of Summer Ski Camps, first established by Toni and for which Nancy coached is the focus of a special Speakers Series event on MAY 1: 'A Celebration of Summer Ski Camps on Whistler Mountain'. 'Through His Lens: The Bruce Rowles Photography Collection' Special Exhibition has its soft opening this evening at 6:30. The exhibit celebrates the bright, the bold, the nuance and storytelling quality of Rowles' photographic journey. The Tony Sailer Fischer Ski Camp party catered by the Keg in 1979. Left to right: Wayne Wong, Wayne Booth, Schultz, Nancy Greene, Toni Sailer, Rookie, Alan White. Happy Earth Day! The area now commonly referred to as Whistler was bestowed this name due to the high pitched 'whistlers' of the alpine: the hoary marmots! Join us this FRIDAY, April 24 at 6:30 pm for a Soft Opening of 'Through His Lens: The Bruce Rowles Photography Collection.' Comprising over 70,000 slides, the Bruce Rowles photographic collection is now the largest in the Museum’s archives. This week's article explores how our Assistant Archivist approached the project of organizing the collection of 35mm slides, documents, posters, and much more that were generously donated by the family of Bruce Rowles in batches from 2024 to 2026. The Whistler Museum will be closed from April 20 to 24 for maintenance. We will reopen on April 24 at 6:30 p.m. for the opening of Through His Lens: The Bruce Rowles Photography Collection.
