Whistler’s Answers: May 15, 1986

In the 1980s the Whistler Question began posing a question to three to six people and publishing their responses under “Whistler’s Answers” (not to be confused with the Whistler Answer).  Each week, we’ll be sharing one question and the answers given back in 1986.  Please note, all names/answers/occupations/neighbourhoods represent information given to the Question at the time of publishing and do not necessarily reflect the person today.

Some context for this week’s question: The 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication, or more commonly Expo 86, opened in Vancouver on May 2, 1986.

Question: What do you think of Expo 86?

Ross Morris – Manufacturers’ Representative – Vancouver

I think it’s great. I’ve been there six times already. I was at Expo 67 and it’s just as good. It’s not as big but it has the same atmosphere. Some of the food prices are good; some are bad. On the whole the prices are reasonable.

Allan Nielsen – Sales – Burnaby

Excellent. I really liked the BC Pavilion. It really informed you about what BC life is all about – the good and the bad. I don’t have any negative criticisms. I really enjoyed it.

Donald Bercu – Retired – Cleveland, Ohio

I enjoyed it very much. I thought it was well laid out. The people were all polite and we felt very welcome. I most enjoyed the film presentation and the one at Expo Centre was my favourite. I enjoyed Vancouver and I think this is a fantastic development you’ve got here.
