In the 1980s the Whistler Question began posing a question to three to six people and publishing their responses under “Whistler’s Answers” (not to be confused with the Whistler Answer).  Each week, we’ll be sharing one question and the answers given back in 1984.  Please note, all names/answers/occupations/neighbourhoods represent information given to the Question at the time of publishing and do not necessarily reflect the person today.

Some context for this week’s question: Like this week, this one seems pretty self explanatory, so we think we’ll leave it there.

Question: Are you ready for winter?

Ian Anderson – Supervisor – Brio

Well, just about – I still have to get my snow tires on. I was somewhat surprised last Wednesday, it was the first time that I have experienced winter this early. But I think I’m ready now.

Lisa Mianscum – Whistler Mountain Employee – Whisky Jack

Yes, I’m ready for winter, and I’m looking forward to a good one. I have been here for seven seasons, so nothing surprises me any more. You take it as it comes; it’s getting to be a way of life.

Daniel Desmarais – Artist – Alpine Meadows

Oh yes, I am, for sure, more than ready. But I don’t know if winter is ready for me. If it’s a small winter like last winter I think I’ll get depressed. I’m used to a lot of snow.
